Ettore's Wunderkammer

$

Ettore's house is a delicate and perfect world made of shapes.
I can't see this place as a classical, real museum.
In general, artists, with their works, show us windows to their souls.
But here there is more: it's a journey inside an alive and pulsing brain; a body in perfect homeostasis.
Here there are doors, leading you on a "neurological" path made of brilliant and serial synapses that create beauty.

I wanted to test the skin tones and slow motion on this little beast so took it out for a walk on Sunday. It's basically a film about having a hangover. Thanks to my friend China for tolerating having the camera pointed at her all day.

After a night of watching Kim Ji-woon's I Saw The Devil, Angelo of Ajapopfilms and I decided to take a break from a feature we're both working on and tried to emulate the lighting situations from one of the earlier scenes in the film. After four hours of setting the lights and the set this is the outcome.

I filmed this short test with my FS700 and my Gemini 4:4:4 (50p Full HD recording xdcam-user.com/2012/06/uncompressed-slow-mo/) in a rainy morning.
My-Log is not a real log, it emulates it to get the best dynamic range from the camera.
There's no color grading in the first part of the video and you can see a little bit of noise expecially in the super slow motion images, but as you can see in the second part, you can easily remove it.
Convergent Design guys are working hard, attempting to get the necessary information from Sony to support the 12 bit RAW from the FS700. Great news!

I met Coach Chillie in the first two years I lived in Los Angeles. In the time I've known Chillie, he has been working hard, struggling, dreaming, and fighting the good fight in the highest of spirits.

This is my homage, ode, celebration of Coach Chillie, builder of dreams. Please acknowledge him, say what's up or throw him a peace sign. He is the real deal, and someone whose positive spirit deserves to be celebrated.

Unless you happen to have quite some knowledge about the history of boxing in California, and maybe even if you do, it's unlikely you have heard of or read about Charles ‘Chillie’ Wilson.

He lives, together with his wife and six children, in part of Los Angeles I typically see from the Harbor Freeway. He coaches boxing, a sport that had its glory days more than a decade ago, and having reformed himself from a life of less noble pursuits, he lives each day guided by his love for God and Jesus.

Today's society doesn't create much of an opportunity to develop an appreciation for someone like Coach Chillie. There is no hype to get wrapped up in, no way he's the next big social media sensation, and he's more than a stone's throw from being a celebrity trainer. The chances of even meeting somebody like Coach Chillie, and being touched by his extraordinary verve for life are becoming more and more slim.

If you were so lucky to meet Coach Chillie you might find out about The Good Fight Training Camp, where he takes on any client with the will to box. In coaching as in life, Chillie lends compassion and drive to an immeasurable degree, leading to a strong connection with his fighters. This is one of the most admirable aspects of The Good Fight program. A self-proclaimed dream-builder, Coach Chillie's teaching methodology is such that he becomes a life coach and spiritual guide to his clients, which vary from weekend enthusiasts to professional boxers, short and stocky kids who really want to work out, and guys who seem to be to old to start boxing.

Until such time that society routinely celebrates more of the unseen that make a difference in their community, enriching the lives of those around them -- it's my hope that this film can serve as a tribute to such a man, a purpose, and indeed, a good fight.

Bloom is a story about taking risks. As the short film opens, we meet Isabella, an Argentinian girl arriving in the U.S. for the very first time to visit a long-time friend. Looking to escape the monotony of everyday life, Isabella finds herself in a remote West Coast mountain town armed with nothing but her luggage and scant understanding of the English language. Upon realizing her luggage was mixed up at the airport, she embarks on an unexpected journey with a stranger, one that flips her world upside down. Limited by language barriers, these two strangers must rely only on body language and facial expressions to convey even simple thoughts and ideas.

Shot on a budget of 3,500 Euros in seven days on a customized Panasonic GH2, Musgo is a classic Slamdance film, making up for its limited resources with ingenuity, swagger and mastery of style. The look of Musgo (which means “moss” in Spanish), inspired by the topography of the Catalan Pyrenees, is specific and unique; Orbegoso displays a powerful ability to create atmosphere and build tension, allowing an inspired cast to go to extremes while staying true to character and credibility. Mercé Espelleta in particular, with her earthy physicality, plays a wonderfully unusual villain as the ruthless cougar Mercedes, at one point taking a break from doling out psychological and physical violence to sing a song to the moon.
